How a price-band strategy put Soundcore in Amazon’s top-3 market share
Assortment and price-band focus (operations) concentrated signal; content and ads amplified it.
Top 3
Market share on Amazon
#1
Price band leadership
We led with assortment & price-band strategy on Amazon—mapping competitor positions and shopper demand to select two bands where Soundcore could win and scale. Operations aligned inventory, pricing discipline, and retail readiness to those bands, while content (PDP/A+) and paid media concentrated signal density. This focus accelerated click-through, conversion, and review velocity, creating durable relevance. The result: Top-3 market share in True Wireless (TWS) across the US, JP, DE, UK, and CA, and #1 popularity in the critical $50–$100 price band.
Background
Soundcore (by Anker) is an audio brand competing in intensely crowded headphone categories on Amazon—alongside low-price entrants and mega-brands like Apple and Samsung. The team engaged Oceanwing to establish a durable position and scale share across major markets.
The Challenge
Category squeeze: Traffic and demand were split between bargain competitors and dominant flagship brands, limiting efficient paths to growth. OceanWing –
Emerging brand signal: High product quality and credible social proof existed, but Soundcore needed a focusable market wedge on Amazon to break through.
Strategic Approach
Oceanwing implemented a proprietary “Triangle Strategy” to concentrate resources where Soundcore could win and scale:
Map price bands + competitor positions
Analyzed price-band dynamics in Soundcore’s categories and benchmarked competitor strengths/weaknesses to identify gaps we could own. OceanWing –Target two core price bands deliberately
Selected two price bands with the best mix of shopper demand, margin, and winnability; built assortment, content, and ads around those bands rather than pursuing the entire category. OceanWing –Execute for signal density
Concentrated retail readiness, reviews and social proof, and paid search/display around those bands to create consistent relevance and accelerate flywheel effects (click-through, conversion, rating velocity).
Results
The program converted seasonal demand into sustained marketplace strength. Annual sales climbed sharply while efficiency improved and rankings solidified across the assortment.
- Market share: Top-3 in Amazon TWS across US, JP, DE, UK, CA.
- Price-band leadership: #1 popularity in the $50–$100 TWS band in those markets.
- Product proof: Liberty Series sustained ~4.5-star ratings, reinforcing conversion
Why it worked
Win a lane, not the highway: Price-band focus compounded rank, reviews, and conversion faster than an all-price strategy.
Position between poles: Avoided bargain race-to-bottom and ultra-premium tiers; captured value seekers with credible quality.
Consistency compounds: Aligning ops, content, and ads inside the chosen bands created sustained relevance → share.
